We are looking for a Data Engineer who is passionate about building and operating the data products and platforms that power data-driven decisions, and eager to grow their craft in a fast-moving environment.

This role places you at the heart of our Appretio platform, our commitment to revolutionizing merchandising through data-driven solutions.

YOUR TEAM
You will become part of Merchandising Solutions, a department of more than 20 data, AI and technology specialists working to transform how merchandising decisions are made across BESTSELLER.

You will join a product team of ten highly skilled colleagues, including data scientists, engineers and application developers. As a Data Engineer, you will help build and evolve the robust, scalable data pipelines and cloud-based infrastructure that power Appretio. Working closely with merchandisers, data scientists, engineers, and application developers, you will contribute to a data platform that is efficient, reliable, and ready to support cutting-edge AI initiatives. You will learn and apply data engineering best practices, take ownership of well-defined areas, and gradually grow into more senior responsibilities over time.

You will be supported through hands-on mentorship from experienced engineers, clear ownership of key areas, and ample opportunities to develop your skills and expertise.

YOUR BENEFITS
Joining BESTSELLER means becoming part of a collaborative and ambitious environment where technology creates tangible business impact.

You can expect:

  • A culture focused on learning, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
  • Professional development opportunities, including training, certification and new responsibilities as you grow
  • The freedom and responsibility to influence how we build our data platforms and products

YOUR PROFILE
You are proactive, structured and motivated by building reliable data solutions. You enjoy solving technical challenges, learning from others and continuously improving your craft. At the same time, you understand the value of collaboration and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We imagine that you:

  • Hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or bring equivalent practical experience
  • Have hands-on experience within data engineering and exposure to production data platforms
  • Have working knowledge of cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, data integration tools and modern data warehouse or lakehouse architectures
  • Possess solid SQL and Python skills and experience building data pipelines
  • Have experience with Git and CI/CD practices
  • Are interested in streaming and real-time data technologies such as Kafka or Spark Streaming
  • Are eager to learn, take responsibility and continue developing your technical expertise

It is considered an advantage if you also have:

  • An understanding of the trade-offs between transactional, analytical and distributed databases
  • Experience with multi-tenant database environments
  • Experience or interest in FastAPI, ORMs and related backend technologies
  • Experience optimising databases and pipelines for analytics-driven applications
  • An interest in data contracts, data products and data governance
