Join our innovative team at BESTSELLER as we leverage cutting-edge AI and data-driven solutions to transform the retail and e-commerce experience.
We are looking for a seasoned Data Engineer who is passionate about designing, building, and operating the data products and platforms that power data-driven decisions - and ready to take a leading role in shaping how we do it. This role places you at the heart of our Appretio platform - our commitment to revolutionizing merchandising through data-driven solutions.
YOUR TEAM
You will be an integral part of a dynamic team within the Merchandising Solutions department, a group of over 20 data and AI enthusiasts driving the merchandising agenda at BESTSELLER. Our focus is not only on delivering unmatched value to our end consumers but also on maintaining the highest standards of customer satisfaction and quality. You will join a product team of ten highly skilled professionals, all committed to harnessing the potential of data to enhance customer experience, streamline operations, and drive revenue growth.
YOUR NEW ROLE
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will lead the way in building and evolving the robust, scalable data pipelines and cloud-based infrastructure behind Appretio. Working closely with merchandisers, data scientists, engineers, and application developers, you will set the technical direction for a data platform that is efficient, reliable, and ready to support cutting-edge AI initiatives. You will take ownership of data engineering best practices and help shape a future-ready foundation for next-generation AI and analytics solutions, while mentoring others along the way.
YOUR BENEFITS
Joining BESTSELLER means working in a vibrant, innovative environment where your decisions make immediate, tangible impacts. You will:
- Engage with an expert, collaborative team committed to innovation and excellence.
- Access comprehensive professional growth opportunities, including specialized training programs and international exposure.
- Benefit from extensive support for ongoing education, certification, and skill development.
YOUR PROFILE
You are a structured, curious, and proactive Senior Data Engineer who takes pride in designing efficient systems and lifting the people around you. You enjoy exploring technological options to find the optimal solution, you naturally take ownership of technical direction and quality, and you are equally comfortable communicating your findings with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
We envision that you bring:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Several years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of delivering and operating production data platforms
- Strong proficiency in cloud environments (AWS or Azure), data integration tools, and modern data warehousing or lakehouse architectures
- Advanced programming skills in SQL and Python, with deep hands-on experience in data pipelines, Git, and CI/CD setups
- Familiarity with streaming and real-time data technologies such as Kafka or Spark Streaming
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, leading technical initiatives, and setting data engineering standards
The following qualifications would be considered an advantage:
- Strong working knowledge of trade-offs between transactional, analytical, and distributed databases
- Experience tackling the challenges of multi-tenant database setups
- Experience and interest in working with FastAPI, ORMs, and related backend frameworks
- Experience tuning databases and data pipelines to efficiently serve production-grade analytics-focused web applications
- Experience designing data contracts and data products, and driving data governance across organizations
